Screaming Yellow Zonkers

Return to Index

Screaming Yellow Zonkers were a popular, discontinued popcorn snack known for their bright yellow, sugary glaze, buttery flavor, crunchy texture, and quirky, humorous packaging with funny messages and "directions for use" on the boxes. Created by Lincoln Snacks in 1969, they were discontinued in 2007 after Lincoln was bought by Conagra, though they had a brief revival in 2012.

Key Characteristics:

Flavor: Sweet, buttery, sugar-glazed popcorn.

Texture: Crunchy from the sugar shell.

Appearance: Distinctive bright yellow color.

Packaging: Famous for colorful boxes with funny slogans like "Read to them," "Tease them," or "Yell back at them".

Why They Disappeared: Lincoln Snacks went out of business in 2007, leading to the discontinuation of many of their products, including Zonkers. Conagra acquired Lincoln Snacks, and while some brands like Fiddle Faddle survived, Zonkers were dropped.
