Tato Skins

Return to Index

Keebler Tato Skins were a popular 80s snack from Keebler, resembling crispy, hollowed-out potato halves with savory seasonings (bacon/cheddar, BBQ, etc.) that captured the essence of restaurant potato skins, but were discontinued around 2000 when acquired by Poore Foods and relaunched as TGI Fridays Potato Skins with a reformulated recipe that many found inferior, leading to their eventual discontinuation.

Key Details:

Original Creator: Keebler.

Concept: A snack chip designed to taste like the popular baked potato skin appetizer from restaurants like TGI Fridays.

Flavors: Included Bacon Cheddar, Sour Cream & Onion, and BBQ.

Discontinuation: Around 2000, when Keebler sold the brand to Poore Foods (later Inventure Foods).

Reboot: Poore Foods rebranded them as TGI Fridays Potato Skins, partnering with the restaurant chain.
