Butterfinger BBs

Return to Index

Butterfinger BBs were small, ball-shaped versions of the Butterfinger candy bar, featuring the classic crispy, flaky peanut butter center in a chocolate coating, discontinued by 2006 due to production issues (like melting) and a company focus shift, though they briefly returned as Butterfinger Mini Bites and have since seen other spin-offs, but the original BBs remain a beloved, missed candy.

What They Were

Description: Tiny, crunchy, peanut butter-filled bites covered in milk chocolate, designed for snacking.

Texture: Offered the signature "crispity, crunchety" Butterfinger experience in a poppable form.

Popularity: Became a hit in the 90s, with ads featuring The Simpsons, and were preferred by many over the full-sized bar.

Why They Disappeared

Melting: A common complaint was that the chocolate coating melted easily, creating a mess.

Business Decisions: Nestle (the manufacturer at the time) discontinued them in 2006 to focus on other products and profits, though low sales were cited as a reason.

Attempts to Replace: Butterfinger tried to recapture the magic with Butterfinger Bites, but many fans felt they weren't the same as the original BBs.
