Sleepy's

Return to Index

Sleepy's stores were discontinued after being acquired by Mattress Firm in 2015, with the physical locations being rebranded as Mattress Firm stores by early 2017, though the name still exists as an in-house brand of mattresses sold at Mattress Firm and for online sales until later. Mattress Firm went through a bankruptcy in 2018, closing some of the former Sleepy's locations, but the brand itself continues as a product line.

Key Events:

Acquisition (2015): Mattress Firm bought Sleepy's for $780 million.

Rebranding (2016-2017): All Sleepy's stores were converted to the Mattress Firm name and look by January 2017, with employees and service promises remaining the same.

Bankruptcy & Closures (2018): Mattress Firm filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, leading to the closure of several hundred stores, including many former Sleepy's locations.

Brand Continuation: The Sleepy's name was kept and is now used for a line of mattresses sold under the Mattress Firm umbrella, with Sealy manufacturing them.

So, while you won't find a standalone Sleepy's store anymore, you'll find their mattresses as a specific brand within Mattress Firm stores or online.
